Walking is a physical exercise that is senior friendly! It has many health benefits according to researchers, and it can be done at any individual’s own pace. Winter is almost over, so let’s get ready to walk!
Some of the benefits of walking include:
Heart health benefits- It can lower certain risks of heart disease, blood pressure and even cardiac arrest
- Burns calories and can prevent weight gain
- Protects against illness- studies show that people who walk regularly get sick less often and for a shorter duration
- Reduces your risk of physical disability, prevents arthritis pain and strengthens muscles
- Studies have shown that walking can add years to your life
How do you get started?
Start small, be consistent and walk indoors if the weather is too hot or too cold.
