The Fountains at Cedar Parke was founded by Mr. Ellis G. Willard who was President of Presbyterian Homes of New Jersey. Construction was started in 1987 and opened July 5th, 1989. It was originally called Harvest Village under Presbyterian Homes and operated by Gateway Communities Inc. At the date of the opening, there were 5-7 residents who moved into Independent Living and 5-7 people who were admitted to “The Springs,” which is now our Skilled Nursing Unit.
In 2000, Gateway contracted with the Fountains Management Inc. to operate the facility. The name was changed from Harvest Village to The Fountains at Cedar Parke.
On July 1,2005 Sunrise, Senior Living Management Inc. was contracted to manage The Fountains at Cedar Parke. They operated the facility until 2013. The Fountains constructed “The Inn” and “The Garden” and residents were relocated into the newly constructed D-E & F Wings.
In November of 2013, The Fountains was sold to a brother and sister team; Murphy van der Velde and Anne-Marie van der Velde. A significant amount of capital has been invested into the facility and ownership and management take great pride in operating a community that our residents call home. In fact, we have several key managers that have been with The Fountains for over 20 years.
Today, The Fountains is home to over 330 residents that live in facility’s Independent Living community (including Home Health Care), Assisted Living neighborhood, Memory Care wing or Skilled Nursing Unit. Since the Vanderveldes purchased The Fountains, renovations have been made each of these communities as well as many upgrades to the life safety systems. Additionally, The Fountains as invested a significant amount of money into green energy products and was currently recognized as a leader in green energy initiatives in Camden County. The Fountains plays a huge role in supporting the veterans of our community and surrounding towns.
Our team is continuously looking for ways to improve life within our community for the residents. We have a diverse activity schedule, host many fun events for the residents, and provide a loving place that feels like home. July 5, 2017 marks our 28th anniversary since opening and we are looking forward too many more successful years to come.
